Two shops sell the same strain, one for €29 and the other for €42. Which is cheaper? There is no way to answer without knowing the quantity, the extra costs and the date the price was recorded. Here is a simple method for a like-for-like comparison.
1. Work out the unit price
Divide the price by the quantity sold. A 5 g pack at €42 works out at €8.40 per gram, a 30 g pack at €199 at €6.63 per gram. The same product can therefore cost noticeably less per gram depending on the size you choose. Always compare the same format: 5 g with 5 g, 30 g with 30 g.
Our price per gram calculator does this calculation for three offers at once, including shipping costs.
2. Check quantity tiers and minimum orders
Many shops offer several sizes (2 g, 5 g, 10 g, 30 g, 100 g), with a price per gram that falls as the quantity rises. Some set a minimum order. A "from" price usually refers to the largest size, not the one you will actually buy.
3. Add shipping
The displayed price does not always include shipping. On a small order, shipping costs can outweigh the price difference between two products. Check each shop's free shipping threshold.
4. Be wary of crossed-out prices and discount codes
A crossed-out price is no proof of a good deal: it may be a reference price that was never actually charged. Compare the price you actually pay. Discount codes are temporary: today's price may have changed by tomorrow.
5. Check the date of the price
On this site, every price shows the date it was checked. After 14 days, it needs to be checked again. After 30 days, we hide it. An old price should not be used as a basis for comparison.
6. Set the price against the analysis
The lowest price is not necessarily the best choice. To go further, compare the price per gram with the total CBD measured in the analysis report: a product at €8 per gram with 10% total CBD works out at €80 per gram of pure CBD, compared with €90 for a product at €6 with 6.7%. This calculation is a pointer, not a score: it says nothing about a batch's quality, freshness or THC content.
How we compare
In our score, the unit price is compared with the median for the same product type, based on the cheapest recent offer. The "price" component is only one part of the data score. Details are on the methodology page.
